My Story

Kayla's love for the arts began at an early age.  As a native of New Orleans, Kayla was surrounded by the magic of jazz music and those who produced it.  From there, Kayla took up the decorated tasks of trumpet and piano.  From the days of carefully crafting middle school mixtapes to becoming a high school audio engineer for the morning news show,  Kayla always knew there was something special about the way music transcends across so many spaces. Her love and curiosity only grew from there during her years at Georgia State University as she would major in Film and minor in Music.  It wasn't until taking a class on legal aspects of the music industry that she became excited about entertainment law and set herself down an unexpected path toward obtaining her law degree!  Kayla's experience in film production has given her a unique perspective on the legal complexities in the creative world.  She strives to help her clients navigate their legal needs with a deep understanding of the creative process, and with a focus on protecting their rights and interests.

During law school, Kayla served as President of the Sports and Entertainment Law Society and was a recipient of the Corporate Counsel Women of Color Scholarship Award. She also gained practical legal experience in entertainment law as a summer Legal Intern for The Epps Firm and Amy Oraefo, P.C.  After graduating law school, Kayla decided to move to New York City to pursue a career in entertainment law due to the city's unparalleled energy and its position as a global hub for the entertainment industry, providing her with the opportunity to work with clients from all corners of the world.  Her past roles include Music Licensing Manager at Humble Riot for the hit television show Southside, and Attorney at Audible supporting Original Content, Music, and Entertainment.  Kayla has been involved in Audible deals such as The Decision by Kevin Hart, Bluebird Memories by Common, The Meaning of Mariah Carey by Mariah Carey, Founding FUBU by Daymond John, My Body, My Podcast by Elizabeth Banks, Streets, Rhymes & 'Sugar' by Michael Eliot, The Sandman by Neil Gaiman and Dirk Maggs, and Playing Burton by Mark Jenkins.  Most recently, Kayla held a Corporate Counsel role at a media company practicing advertising and data privacy law. Kayla's passion for the arts has taken her on a journey of self-discovery, and she is proud to use her knowledge in service of helping her entertainment and entrepreneurial clients reach their objectives.

Kayla is a licensed attorney in New York and admitted to the Appellate Division - Second Judicial Department.  Her international experience from studying abroad in Florence, Italy, and Oxford, England has provided Kayla with a broad perspective on entertainment and business law.  Moreover, her role in the UCLA Extension Music Supervision program gave her greater insight into media composition dynamics, particularly in licensing and placing music for film, television, and advertising projects.  Leveraging her knowledge and experience, Kayla is committed to providing superior legal services that exceed expectations and guide clients through the intricate nuances of entertainment and entrepreneurship law.

In her spare time, Kayla enjoys working on music supervision projects, discovering new music and listening to classics, traveling, reading books, exercising, outdoor activities, listening to finance podcasts, the spa, and spending time with family.
